Why skill training is crucial for athlete development

As a player, my goal in soccer was to become the most well-rounded player in the game.  While I worked up the ladder from youth club through college, I discovered the most essential aspects of the game are technical skills, especially your first touch to the ball.

Every level of play is different. From AYSO, club, academy, college and professional. The common key to success, at any level, it’s your technical aspects the game.  This is what defines a well-rounded and creative player.

Our Mission

It is the mission of IB Training to provide an environment in which young athletes have an opportunity to enhance their development at all levels of competition through incorporating good technical habits and confidence on the ball. 

With specifically designed programming, players will be able to construct confidence in-play and build development through learning good technical habits while building character on the field.

After playing at the highest level of soccer and understanding the key components of a well-rounded player, is simply not enough to develop while only training with your team. It is critical to develop an athlete’s technical skills tools outside of regular team play.

 

A great player will train 2-3 times a week. World-class players will do the same as well as continue their own personal development through technical skills training. Good first touch, dribbling, shooting, skill, movement, driving, and wedging are all critical to rising above the rest of the competition.
